Barney and Friends Songs

Barney and Friends is a very popular children’s show made in the U.S. The show was originally aired in the U.S. but then the rights have been bought in many countries and the series was translated so that small children can understand it, the songs included.

Have you noticed how much music adds to Barney and Friends? Apparently children respond very well to music as a message vehicle. Not many people know that most of the albums of the show Barney and Friends feature the voice of Bob West. He does Barney’s voice. The Land of Make Believe has Dean Wendt’s voice on it as Barney singing.

Barney has one favorite song which has become just as famous as the show: “I love you” which has the tune of “This Old Man”. But the theme song is “Barney is a Dinosaur” and he sings it to the tune of “Yankee Doodle”, the state anthem of Connecticut and goes as far back as the Seven Years War.. Since Barney just loves marching bands and parades he is a very musical character. Baby bop, on the other hand sings the song “My Yellow Blankey” in which she talks about how much her blanket means to her and how this object makes her feel so secure. Not all the characters sing but each episode has a well represented musical dimension. As a rule, all episodes start with the theme song known as “Barney is a dinosaur”. Julie Johnson makes the Baby Bop voice. She is very popular with children, especially with little girls who identify with her and like humming her songs.

Very few people know the fact that “I love you” has been used by interrogators at a certain detention center in Cuba, along with songs from Metallica and Sesame Street to force detainees to confess.
